Choosing the correct fork tube length

The number one question we're asked is:
"What does 4", 6", 8", 10", etc. over stock tubes mean?"
It's simply how much longer, the tube is, than the stock length on you bike.

Why do we offer a choice of tube length?

There's an optimal length fork tube for every model and rake configuration. This data is based on a bike that the rear suspension has not been modified/lowered. Since some of us lower the rear of our bikes, (which changes the equation), having a choice of tube length with each kit, lets you fine tune your suspension for the best "Trail" numbers possible. The best handling, in other words.

Below is a guide to help you decide the best length to use in your particular application. You'll need to know: the factory rake on your bike, whether it's been lowered in the rear or not and if so, by how much. Note: if either wheel on the bike has a different diameter from stock, call us for assistance.

The factory rake of most cruisers today, will range from 26 to about 34 degrees. (Here, we're referring to the neck, or steering head angle.)

If the rear has been lowered, a rule of thumb is for every 1" that you lower the rear, take 2" off the tube length suggested below.

The object in choosing the best tube length is to select a length that will make the angle of the bikes  frame rails, (in relation to the ground), as close to the original/stock angle as possible. By doing so you'll maintain the stock "trail"

Notes

(1.) The suggestions below are based on bikes that have not been lowered in the rear.
(2.)
Bikes equipped from the factory with 16" front wheels, add 2" to the tube length suggested below. (3.) For those of you that want to use the longest tubes possible, (old school chopper look) you can add 2" to the suggested length below and still maintain good handling.
